Two is for transition.

Transition from one job title to another, one hat to another, one lipstick colour to another, one perfume scent to another.

All of which I am doing this week except for the hat thing, because I don't really wear hats. Except ironically or to model the brilliant military hat that someone left at the theatre about eight years ago. And I refuse to get rid of it because I will wear it to a fancy dress party one day. And that's a promise, folks. So the hat thing is metaphorical.

One job title to another is less metaphorical. Just reality, really. From director to theatre manager, actually. Which isn't so much actually changing job titles, it is just telling a different set of people what they can and can't do. Helping other people realize their dreams of theatrical success, one "enjoy the show!" at a time. I've actually found that this transition is the most difficult, though. Because I've spent the past two months with intense focus on one project and now it is about making other peoples' projects happen. Which is completely valid and I enjoy the work, but it is a different set of skills. So I'm trying to unpack that particular toolkit.

Have decided to go quite gothic for the winter season, so am about to go off and find some plum coloured lipstick.

I also have ran out of perfume and must buy some more. Natural pheromones on their own, don't suit me.

Also, in the next one-woman show I write (at the moment it is tentatively titled "Antithesis"), I will be performing a commitment ceremony between myself and my art, in an ironical statement about the life of a single artist in the 21st century. Its going to be very post-mod.
